David C. Solberg

David C. Solberg, 65, passed away at his residence on Sunday, December 27, 2009.

David was born in Whitehall, WI, on October 21, 1944, to the late Carl and Mildred (nee: Engen) Solberg. After receiving his education from Washington Park High School, Dave faithfully served our Country with the United States Army in Vietnam.

Dave enjoyed driving his semi tractor trailer with Tandem Trucking for many years. He also found great pleasure in serving his friends and customers as a bartender at The Corner House. Dave was a member of the Teamsters and was an avid sports fan – especially of football and NASCAR. Above all, he was tremendously proud of his entire family and loved being in their surroundings.

Surviving are his sons, Matt (Larisa) Solberg, who Dave affectionately called “Champ,” of Cheyenne, WY, and Morgan Solberg, who Dave affectionately called “Dusty,” of Racine; adored granddaughter, Madyson “Mojo” Solberg; brother, Ron (Linda) Solberg of Sturtevant; sister, Sheri (Bill) Switzer of Kenosha; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service celebrating Dave’s life will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Saturday, January 2, 2010, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jeff Barrows officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 1-2 p.m. Private interment, with military honors, will take place in the S. Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In memory of Dave, memorials to the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 767, have been suggested.

A special note of thanks to the entire staff of the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee for the compassionate care and support in Dad’s time of need.
