Millie (Kaplan) LaMartina

Millie LaMartina, age 85, passed away Wednesday December 23, 2009, at Ridgewood Care Center after a brief illness. Millie was born in Racine on November 8, 1924, daughter of the late Frank and Albina (nee: Just) Kaplan.

On May 28, 1948, she was united in marriage to Max LaMartina, who preceded her in death on May 16, 1992. Millie was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed her time and made many lifelong friends through the years while working at Roma Lodge. Millie took great pride in her home and always had a meticulous yard. Above all, she cherished her time with her grandchildren, great-grandson and family. Millie will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Gene (Mary) LaMartina, Jan (John) Overman; four grandchildren, Anthony and Adam LaMartina, Brett and Natalie Overman; great-grandson, Caleb; brothers, Emil Kaplan, Dick (Rosie) Kaplan; sister, Elsie Despins; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Millie was also preceded in death by her infant sister, Emily; brothers, Jerry and Louis; and her sister, Lydia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., on Monday December 28, 2009, at 6 p.m., with Rev. Ronald O. Crewe officiating, assisted by Deacon Russell Missureli. Entombment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church Monday from 4 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. Memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lutheran Church of the Resurrection or to one’s favorite charity have been suggested.
