Ruby Irene Mathison, 93, passed away on Saturday December 5, 2009, at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care-All Saints.
She was born in Eau Claire County, the daughter of Fred and Agnes (nee: Wallmark) Smith at home on the family farm.
Ruby was united in marriage to William Mathison in Eau Claire at Grace Lutheran Church on January 25, 1941. She was a member of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. Ruby was employed at Western Publishing, retiring after over 25 years of service. She found great enjoyment in crocheting, embroidering and loved to bake for family and friends.
Ruby is survived by two daughters, Susann (Dean) Bertelsen of Franksville and Jane Bauer of Racine; four grandchildren, Wendy, Kathleen, Shelli and Cynthia. She is further survived by nine great-grandchildren, Jordan, Andrew, William, Tessa, Tamara, Colton, Grace, Jaden and Kalynn; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends, in Racine and Eau Claire.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, William, on July 4, 1985; and four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 322 Ohio St., on Thursday December 10, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Rev. James Barsch officiating. Burial will be held in Eau Claire.
Visitation will be held at church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lutheran Church of the Resurrection have been suggested by the family.
Ruby’s family would like to extend a very special thank you to the Dr.’s nurses, hospice and entire staff at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care-All Saints for their care and compassion.
