On April 4, 1944, she married Lewis Cowan who preceded her in death on January 6, 1969. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church. She attended schools in Racine and worked at J.I. Case during WW II as a riveter and then worked at InSinkErator for 31 years. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, watching the Packers and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She is survived by her daughter, Dianne (Dennis) Oertel; granddaughter, Lisa (Scott) Acker; three great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jonathan and Alyssa Acker, all of Racine. She is also survived by three sisters, Mary Schulz, Helen Zamagne and Sandra (Reynold) Polkky of Racine; and many nephews and nieces. Beside her husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Eric Oertel; her parents, brother and sister-in-law, Peter (Beverly) Zamagne Jr.;, brothers-in-law, Leonard Zellman and Edward Schulz; and special friend, John Lawrence; as well as other brothers- and sisters-in-law.
In respect of her wishes a private funeral will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials to one’s favorite charity have been suggested.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr Mullane and staff, Dr Martini and Sue, the staff at Home Harbor, and Odyssey Hospice who lovingly cared for her around the clock.
