Joseph V. Gianforte

Joseph V. Gianforte, age 87, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2009, at Wisconsin Veterans Home, Town of Dover. He was born in Racine, May 5, 1922, son of the late John and Sarah (Nee: Martino) Gianforte.

Joe served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific, stationed on the USS Pennsylvania during WWII. On February 2, 1947, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chicago he was united in marriage to Elaine S. Grazian. Joe owned and operated his own trucking business, working for various companies for over 50 years before retiring from J.I. Case in 1987. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. He enjoyed staying busy working, but most of all it was time spent with his family that was most important. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Elaine; sons, John (Carol) Gianforte of Scottsdale, AZ, Thomas (Kathleen) Gianforte of Durand, WI; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Steven (Dolores) Gianforte; and a sister, Rosemary Leonard.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 2, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St., with Reverend John Pulice officiating. Friends and relatives are welcome to meet with family for visitation on Saturday at 12:30 until time of Mass at the church. Private entombment with full military honors will be held at Holy Cross Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Memorials to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church have been suggested by the family.
