Doris Katherine Seeger

Mrs. Doris K. Seeger, 89, passed away on New Year’s Eve, 2009. She was born in Racine on July 29, 1920, to Martha and Andrew Moore and lived there most of her life. Doris married her curly-haired love, Gilbert Seeger, on August 29, 1937. Family was dearest to Doris’s heart, and she wrapped everyone with love and one of the more than 150 afghans she crocheted.

Her family will remember that Doris was generous, thoughtful, positive, always happy and always wanted dessert first. She appreciated beautiful things such as ornaments (especially angels), pretty napkins and scented soaps. Doris believed in treating herself right and taught her family that they should do the same. She was a long-time volunteer at the Lincoln Lutheran Home.

Doris will be dearly missed by her children, Ronald (Marie) Seeger of Franksville, LeRoy (Carolyn) Seeger of Racine and Judith Ann (Jay) Ward of Gurnee, Illinois. She was loved by her eight grandchildren, all of whom she spoiled, Ronald (Jackie) Seeger, Cheri (Jeff) Porter, Beth and Sara Haebich, Jill (Mike) Heise, Ryan Seeger, Jennifer (Brett Sterly) Ward and Jamie (Edmund) White. Doris is also survived by her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-laws, Caroline Seeger, Marion Seeger, Norman (Doris) Seeger, John Seeger, Allen Seeger and Vernon (Marie) Olson; along with many dear nieces, nephews and friends. As she passes from this life into the next, Doris has rejoined her husband, Gilbert, of 65 years. She is also with her daughter, Joanne Haebich; her brothers, Melvin and James Moore; and her mother and father.

Funeral services will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 2219 Washington Ave., on Saturday, January 9, with Rev. Tracy Polzin officiating. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. and the service will be at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church or Health Care Network Inc. will be appreciated.

The family wants to thank the staff at Willow Green, Bay Pointe and Wheaton Franciscan Health Care 2 B for their care given to Doris.
