Elsie Kirstine (nee: Ericksen) Thompson, 85, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2009, at Lakeshore Manor. She was a lifelong resident of Racine, born on January 15, 1924, the daughter of Jens Anker and Emmy (nee: Jorgensen) Ericksen.
On March 3, 1945, Elsie was united in marriage to Robert A. Thompson at Bethania Lutheran Church. She was a lifetime member of Bethania Lutheran Church and had been the church secretary for many years. Elsie found great enjoyment in knitting, counted cross-stitch and reading.
Elsie is survived by her son, Laurence “Larry’ (Kelli) Thompson of Racine; daughter, Lynn Caron of Mobile, AL; two grandsons, Jeremy and Patrick Thompson; one sister and two brothers-in-law, Helene ‘Fayna’ (Bernard) Wasik and Arthur Petzke; one brother and a sister-in-law, Jens (Kay) Ericksen all of Racine. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, on August 7, 2004; sister, Doris Petzke; brother and sister-in-law, Elmer (Audrey) Ericksen.
Memorial services will be held at Bethania Lutheran Church, 4120 Wright Ave., on Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Steve Wohlfeil officiating. There will be visitation at church on Wednesday morning before services from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Private interment will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Bethania Lutheran Church have been suggested by the family.
