Catherine M. (Grachan) Horton

Catherine “Kay” M. Horton, 90, passed away August 7, 2011, at Harmony of Racine. Catherine was born in Numa, IA, on December 4, 1920, daughter of the late Stephen and Dora (Nee: Obradovich) Grachan. As a young child Catherine moved with her family to Milwaukee. WI. On July 9, 1949, she was united in marriage to Jerome W. Horton at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Racine. Jerry preceded her in death in 2009.

Catherine was employed by Cutler-Hammer in Milwaukee and Hamilton Beach Co. in Racine. She was the most giving, loving and caring wife, mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to all.

Survivors include her children, Jerry R Horton, Carol Horton (Mark Dorf) of Racine; grandchildren, Arlo and Jen Horton of Maryland, Sally (Horton) and Jamie Fischer; and great-grandchildren, Garrick and Lauren Horton, Nolan Fischer of La Crescent, MN; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Gerry Horton; special nieces, nephews, relatives and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerome Horton; brother, Stephen Grachan; sisters, Goldie Kosak and Mary Grachan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, August 15, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St., with Reverend Ronald O. Crewe officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet Monday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations to your favorite charity have been suggested.

The family wishes to send a very special and heartfelt thank you to the staff of Harmony Commons and Hospice Alliance for the loving and compassionate care given to Catherine and Jerome.
