Lawrence R. McMullen

Lawrence R. McMullen, “Larry,” age 63, passed away Friday, August 19, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. He was born in Hempstead, NY, on February 15, 1948, son of the late Arthur and Dorothy (Nee: Scholzen) Shockley.

Larry graduated from Wm Horlick High School and attended Gateway Technical College. On August 2, 1980, in Racine he was united in marriage to Gail A. Erickson. Larry was employed by J.I. Case Co as a Quality Trainer, retiring after 34 years of service in 2000. He also had worked on staff for the United Way and most recently for Albany Chicago of Pleasant Prairie. Larry was a member of Grace Church. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed reading and working with cars and small engines. Larry was a devoted Christian, husband and father He will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his wife, Gail; children, Randy (Terri) McMullen, Wendy Sorens, Jason McMullen, Sean McMullen; grandchildren, Tim and Katie McMullen, Bodhi Gust, Mitchell, Aliah and Karissa Sorens, Brittany, Brianna and Loren McMullen, Jacob Toftom; brother, Jim (Gloria) McMullen; sister, Cindy (Tim) Fitzgerald; mother-in-law, Toni Green; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sandy (Gene) Schnaare, Joe (Linda) Erickson, Linda (Jeff) Kingsfield, Tom (Kaew) Erickson, Bob Erickson; nieces, nephews, and other relatives, his small group church family and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mike; and father-in-law, Jerry Erickson.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 25, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Church, 3626 Hwy 31. with Reverend Dan Petersen officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Wednesday at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Joel Niebuhr and staff and the ICU staff at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center, and Dr. Michael Schuetz and staff at the Cancer Center for their loving and compassionate care.
