Mrs. Opal A. Noha, 94, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-All Saints.
Opal was born in Magazine, Arkansas, to the late Rubin Lee and Furba (nee: Moore) Oden on August 28, 1916. She lived in Racine from 1937 until 1970. In Racine, she was united in marriage to Carl A. Noha on February 4, 1949. They moved to Wild Rose in 1970. Carl preceded her in death on September 19, 2000. She returned to Racine in 2001.
Mrs. Noha was employed by both the Wild Rose High School and William Horlick High School in the schools’ lunch service programs. She was also known as the Doll Lady because of her doll-making business. Mrs. Noha was the only remaining charter member of Immanuel Baptist Church and was a faithful and kind person. She had a great sense of humor and an infectious giggle. She was very crafty and enjoyed dolls, sewing and cooking. Most importantly, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her great-great grandchildren.
Opal will be dearly missed by her children, Audrey Juanita Johnson, James A. Smalley (Pam Newman) and Michael (Debi) Noha; eight grandchildren, Cindy, John “Kip”, James “Bud” Perkins, Cheryl (Danyl) Jensen, Joe Perkins, Kimberli (Roger) Due, Adam and Cody Noha; 22 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren with two expecting; one brother, Glen (Lucille) Oden; and other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by one great-grandson, Adam; three sisters, Hester, Lillian and Audrey; and two brothers. Floyd and Haskel “Bill.”
Per Mrs. Noha’s wishes, she will be cremated and services will be held at a later date.
