Salvador Martinez

Surrounded by his loving family, Salvador Martinez, age 79, passed away Monday, August 1, 2011, at his residence. Salvador was born in Forest River, North Dakota, on October 21, 1931, son of the late Juan and Gloria (Nee: Sanchez) Martinez.

In 1950 in Levelland, Texas, he was united in marriage to Guadalupe Garcia, who preceded him in death on December 21, 1972. Salvador retired from Tews Company and was previously employed with the Racine County Highway Department. In his spare time he enjoyed playing bingo and testing his luck at the casinos. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his children, Salvador (Angelina) Martinez, Cathy Hahn, Jeffery (Dawn) Martinez, all of Racine; his grandchildren, Gloria Martinez, Margarita (Martin) Garcia, Eddie Quesada, Lucy Delgado, Ruth and Laura Hahn, Maggi and Joshua Martinez, Robert Martinez, Paul (Jaime) Martinez; his great-grandchildren, Trinity and Sierra Martinez; brothers, Louis (Teresa) Martinez of Racine, Jesse (Adela) Martinez of San Diego, CA; sisters, Sarah Lucas of Racine, Janie (George) Siblisky of Eagle River, Josephine Feil of Racine; dear friend, Rachel Felix; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Ralph “Peachie” Martinez; his granddaughter, Guadalupe; and two sisters, Sally Hernandez and Lupe Gomez.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 4, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., with Rev. Ronald O. Crewe officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Wednesday at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Thursday at the church from 9:15 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Memorials to the family have been suggested.
