On June 27, 1936, at the Second Presbyterian Church in Racine she was united in marriage to Harlan W. Westerfield who preceded her in death October 22, 2001. They were proud to have been happily married for sixty-five years. Throughout her career she was employed by J.I. Case Company, Hulbert Bros., last working at Earl Hammil and Company, retiring in 1976. Lunette was an active member of the Second Presbyterian Church serving as past Deacon, member of the Ladies Guild, and assisted her husband with treasury work. Above all she was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed. Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, James (Linda) Westerfield, Dennis (Martha) Westerfield, all of Racine; her four grandchildren, Susan (Rick) DeKeuster, James (Suzanne) Westerfield Jr., all of Racine, Kimberly (Jeff) Hess of Orange County, CA, Daniel (Missy) Westerfield of Racine; four great-grandchildren, Katherine DeKeuster, Haley Westerfield, Ashlyn and Lily Westerfield; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, February 26, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Fiona A. Nicolaisen officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Memorials to the Second Presbyterian Church have been suggested.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Nurse Nancy Joy Goodman, Chaplin Gordon Boyce, the staffs at Odyssey Healthcare, Ridgewood Care Center 1 West, and St. Monica’s Senior Citizen Home for their loving and compassionate care.
