Bob was born on April 8, 1929, the son of William and Esther (nee: Andersen) Rasmussen. He was a William Horlick High School graduate, class of “1946” and on November 17, 1956, in Racine, Bob was united in marriage to Fay Hansen. He owned and operated R-A Construction Company for many years. Bob was a former member of Racine Moose Lodge #437. He found great enjoyment and always looked forward to hosting his annual 4th of July celebrations with family, friends and neighbors. Bob took great pleasure in vacationing at the cottage up north. He was an avid Packer fan and loved more than anything else being surrounded by his family and friends.Bob is survived by his wife Fay; children, Susan (Brian) Wodicka, Bob (Leslie) Rasmussen Jr. both of Racine, Linda (James) Schemmel of Rochester, Cindy (Jeffery) Beegle, Amy (Paul) Thompson all of Racine; nine grandchildren, Joshua, Joseph, Adam, Alex, Eric, Kayla, Zachary, Olivia and Anna, two sisters-in-law, Sylvia (Rasmussen) Hirt of Racine and Rose Rasmussen of Rosholt. Bob is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Faye Johnson; brothers, Raymond “Buzz” (Vivian) Rasmussen, Norman, James, Keith and Donnie Rasmussen.
Funeral services celebrating Bob’s life will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Friday, February 20, 2009, at noon with Rev. John Fleming officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a visitation at the funeral from 10 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
