Nettie Jane Kennow

Nettie Jane (nee: Allesandros) Kennow, 76, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints. She was born in Illinois on September 18, 1932, the daughter of Joseph ‘Pa’ and Mabel (nee: Howell) Monroe.

On April 30, 1955 Nettie was united in marriage to Glen Kennow. She attended Trinity Lutheran Church. Nettie enjoyed shopping for family and friends, spending time outside caring for her yard and flowers, feeding the birds and bird-watching. She loved all animals and doing craft projects.

Surviving are her children, David Kennow and Dennis Kennow, both of Racine, Kathleen (Clifford) Sell of Roberts and Nanette (James) Samz of Sturtevant; grandchildren, Jamie Samz II, Sarah Jane (Danny) Mobley, Betsy Samz, Rachel Kennow, Zachary Kennow, Dan (Liz) Kennow, Pete (Angela) Kennow and Glen (Heather) Kennow, Melissa Kennow, Monica Kennow; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Nettie was preceded in death by her husband, Glen ‘Papa’ on October 23, 1990; son, Frederick ‘Freddie Brown’ on October 16, 1983; Ma ‘Granny’ on October 8, 1977; one brother and sisters. Also her beloved dog and companion Sadie Mae.

Services will be held at Sturino Funeral on Monday, February 23, 2009, at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Monday, before services from 11 a.m. until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to American Heart Association, The Lung Association or to Countryside Humane Society have been suggested.
