Rudy S. Oremovich

Surrounded by the love of his family, Rudy S. Oremovich, age 86, passed away at home Wednesday, February 11, 2009. He was born in Racine May 24, 1922, son of the late John and Kathrin Oremovich.

On November 4, 1944, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Elaine M. Wifkofski. Rudy was employed by Nielsen Iron Works for over 20 years and was a well known handyman who was always there willing to lend a helping hand. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Rudy was an avid fisherman and enjoyed bowling and golfing. Above all he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Elaine; his daughter, Judy Mertins; grandchildren, Kris Cashmore of Racine, Steven (Phyllis) Mertins of Fond du Lac, Eric (Melissa) Mertins of Racine, James Mertins (Stephanie) of Racine; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Jeremy, Andrew, Caitlin, Arthur and Tommy; two sisters, Marge Haluska and Jeanette Domanico; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marilyn (Don) Stephens, Carol (Gene) Heck, Mert Witkofski, Elmer Witkofski; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 14, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St., with Reverend John D. Aiello officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet Saturday at the church 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. In lieu of flower memorials to the family or St. Joseph’s Catholic Church have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Michael Mullane and staff and the staff at Hospice Alliance for their loving and compassionate care.
