Charles 'Charlie' Manarino

Charles Manarino, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2009, at the Becker-Shoop Center. Charles was born in Pennsylvania, February 5, 1910, son of the late Michael and Frances (nee: Matagrano) Manarino.

During World War II, he proudly served in the United States Army Air Force stationed in the Central Pacific in Saipan, Guam, and Hickam Field, and was the recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a plumber at Willing Plumbing and J.I. Case Company for many years, retiring in 1977. Charles was a member of St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, V.F.W. Post 1391, Case Local 180, and Plumbers Local 118.

Survivors include his sister, Helen Blasco of Warren, MI; nieces and nephews, Angeline (William) Bielefeldt, Patricia (Thomas) Simonson, and Dani Widmer, all of Racine; Kathleen Moralez of Sheboygan; nephews, Albert (Nancy) Volpintesta of Appleton, Michael Blasco, David (Kim) Blasco of Michigan, and other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary (Emil) Volpintesta, Carolyn (Gabriel) Presta, Bertha Halliday and two infant sisters; nephew Anthony (Joyce) Volpintesta; and brother-in-law, Anthony Blasco.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., on Friday, June 26, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. A private entombment with full military honors will be held at Calvary Garden Crypts.
