Shirley Jane (nee: Nelson) Klamm, 88, passed away at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha, on Monday, June 29, 2009.
Shirley was born in Racine on January 9, 1921, to the late David and Dorothy (nee: Lawton) Nelson. On May 21, 1938, she was united in marriage to Karl Klamm, who preceded her in death on January 7, 1998.
Although her first priority was raising her ten children, Shirley was employed for many years at American Motors until her retirement in 1981. She also owned and operated Shirley’s Antiques in Racine.
With a profound faith in God, she was a proud member of Fellowship of Christian Believers where she enjoyed sharing her faith. Shirley was a people person who loved helping anyone in need. Above all, Shirley loved and cherished being in the midst of her family and friends.
Surviving are her children, Carol (Donald) Chase, Jack (Monica) Klamm, JoAnn (Vincent) Novak, Rodger (Shirley) Klamm, Bruce (Anita) Klamm, Phillip (Mary Jo) Klamm, Linda Meshenky, Sharman Turek, Constance (Robert) Sharp and Thomas (Betty) Klamm; 27 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Jeanne Johnson and Phyllis Lloyd; brothers, David (Dorothy) Nelson and Richard (Shirley) Nelson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name.
In addition to her parents, David and Dorothy Nelson; and her husband, Karl; Shirley was also preceded in death by her grandson, David Chase; sister and brother-in-law, Corrine and Roy Schimming; sister-in-law, Pat Nelson; brother-in-law, Dyson Lloyd; and son-in-law, James Turek.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Monday, July 6, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Art Rader officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. and on Monday from 10-11 a.m. In accordance with Shirley’s wishes, cremation will follow the service. Private interment will take place in Graceland Cemetery. In memory of Shirley, memorials to Wrestling the World, W8059 Bayview Dr. Whitewater, WI 53190 have been suggested.
