Dolores Marie Legois, 80, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009, after a year-long battle with ovarian cancer. She was born June 5, 1929, in Racine, to Wallace and Marguerite (Nee: Drasen) Lemke. On January 15, 1949, she married Claude Legois in Racine.
Dolores worked for the City of Racine in the Water Department for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church. Dolores was an avid gardener and reader. She also enjoyed a good discussion on politics.
Survivors include her daughter, Claudia (Dan) Kovara of Racine; four grandchildren, Matthew Kovara, Rachel Kovara, Amy Kovara, and Katie (Troy) Dornack. all of Racine; sister-in-law, Sue Lemke of Union Grove; niece, Monika Lemke of Colorado; special friends and extended family, Mike Miklasevich, Betty Zinnen, Dick and Bev Simon, Jerry and Darlene White, Ladonna Richter, and Kevin and Alexis Dubiak. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, dearly beloved brother, Gregory Lemke; and her brothers, Dick, Rowland, and Wayne Lemke.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Richard Catholic Church, 1503 Grand Ave., on Wednesday, July 1, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ronald J. Gramza officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 until time of Mass. Private interment will be held. In memory of Dolores memorial contributions for Gregorian Masses which are a series of Holy Masses traditionally offered on 30 consecutive days by the Association of Marian Helpers for Dolores
A heartfelt note of thanks to Dr. Mullane and staff, Hospice Alliance, and especially Dolores’s nurse Jake G. for their compassionate care and support that was given to Dolores in her time of need. May God bless all of you.
