Roger Hergott

Roger Hergott, 79, passed away at the Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Sunday morning, June 21, 2009.

Roger was born in Moyeuvre – Grande, France, on July 25, 1929, to the late Alphonse and Marie-Augustine (nee: Becker) Hergott. He served in Morocco with the French Army.

On June 13, 1963, in France, Roger was united in marriage with the love of his life, Albine Denise Marengo. Shortly after, they moved to the United States.

Roger was employed by Racine Steel Castings until his retirement in 1991. He was a long-time member of St. Edward Catholic Church. An outdoor enthusiast, he was an award winning tennis player; enjoyed golfing, bicycling, cross-country skiing, ice skating and hiking. Roger was a phenomenal artist who created many paintings and carvings in his lifetime. He also enjoyed playing cards and board games. Above all, he was passionate about his family and was happiest when in their midst.

Surviving are his loving wife of over 46 years, Albine; their children, Denise Hergott of Racine; Muriel (fiancé, Dennis Boretsky) Hergott and Sylvie Hergott, both of Oak Creek; and Luc (Katrina) Hergott of Hartland; grandchildren, Michael Winkie and Colette Hergott; sister-in-law, Anne Marengo; and by other dear relatives and friends in the United States, France and Italy.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his brother, Lucien Hergott; foster brother, Raymond Esminger; and brother-in-law, Claude Marengo.

In accordance with Roger’s wishes, cremation will take place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 29, 2009, at 6 p.m.in St. Edward Catholic Church, 1401 Grove Ave., with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating. A reception will follow. Visitation will be in the church on Monday from 5-6 p.m. In memory of Roger, memorials to the American Lung Association have been suggested.

A heartfelt note of thanks to Dr. Iftekhar Bader and to the entire staff of All Saints Medical Center -2B for the compassionate care and support that was so warmly extended in Roger’s time of need. May God bless all of you!
