Virginia K. (Piron) Sucharda

Virginia K. Sucharda, age 88, passed away Friday, June 5, 2009, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. She was born in Green Bay, WI, on July 24, 1920, daughter of the late Joseph and Elsie (Nee: Mercier) Piron and was raised in Escanaba, MI.

On February 14, 1942, she was united in marriage to Glen J. Sucharda and they moved to Racine. Virginia worked as a waitress at the Elk’s Club for 25 years. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. She was a wonderful quilter and excellent seamstress. She also enjoyed camping and traveling. She will be dearly missed.

Surviving are three children, Jean (Charles) Coupe of Racine, Joseph (Barbara) Sucharda of Burlington and Susan (Timothy) Stindle of Racine; 10 grandchildren, Laura (Brian) Hanneman, David (Anne) Coupe, Mary (Jason) Newitzki, Joseph (Rhonda) Sucharda, Stephanie (Sean) Manley, Babette (Mike) Peterson, Becky (Chuck) Mesec, Bonnie (Paul) Bauman, Timothy Stindle Jr, Katie (Anthony) McBain; 23 great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Theresa) Piron; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband on February 7, in 2002; her twin brother, Reginald Piron; and her sister, Jane Kitts.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 8, 2009, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon with Reverend William J. Dietzler officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
