She was born in Racine on October 1, 1916, to the late Alfred and Nellie Hodges. Alfreda was united in marriage to Earl Ellingham on November 20, 1941.
Alfreda was a lifelong member of (Holy Innocents) St. Nicholas Episcopal Church and was employed for 40 years with Racine Unified Schools.
She is survived by one son, Alan (Grace) Ellingham of Racine; two grandchildren, Eric (Kim) Ellingham of Burlington and Sue Ellingham of London, England; two great-grandchildren, Andy and Emma Ellingham of Burlington; and one brother, Alfred (Colleen) Hodges of Rochester, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; daughter, Diane; brothers, William and Walter; and sisters Doris Cordts and Alice Bergman.
Funeral services will be held at St. Nicholas Episcopal Church, 2509 16th St., on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at 10 a.m. with Father David Miracle officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Nicholas Episcopal Church.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Welsh, WFHC-All Saints, Hospice, and Becker Shoop Center for their care and compassion during her final weeks.
