Alice Teresa (Kyte) Jorgensen, of Racine, WI, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, at the Wheaton Franciscan Medical Center in Racine. Alice had just celebrated her 92nd birthday on March 25. She was born in Lebanon, Kansas, the daughter of Ben and Grace (Viers) Kyte, and sister to Stephen Kyte, of Mankato, MN, and Paul Kyte, of Yankton, SD, all who preceded her in death.
She married Alvie Jorgensen of Yankton, SD, in 1940; they enjoyed a love affair of nearly sixty years. They lived in Massachusetts most of their married lives, first in Newton, then in Lexington, and finally in South Yarmouth. Alice moved to Racine shortly after Alvie’s death. She leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Neil Jorgensen and Maureen Dastous, of Concord, NH; a daughter, Paula Jorgensen, of Racine; seven grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
Alice had rejoined the workforce after raising her children into their teens, beginning with Lexington Trust Company, which eventually became part of Bank of America. She was an avid reader, skilled at cross-stitch embroidery and made a great apple pie.
Alice’s interment will be at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Centerville, MA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to the charity of your choice.
