Margaret Marie Therkelsen

Margaret M. Therkelsen, age 81, passed away Friday, March 25, 2011, with her family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Margaret was born in Racine on September 9, 1929, daughter of the late Arthur and Marie (Nee: Soens) Helding.

On August 11, 1951, Margaret was united in marriage to Richard P. Therkelsen who preceded her in death on March 23, 1998. Moving to Door County in 1977 she and her husband owned and operated Dick’s Ephraim Service Station. She later used her talent for decorating at the Turtle Gift Shop in Ephraim and worked along side her daughter at Rankin & Associates in Sturgeon Bay. In 2008, Margaret moved back to Racine to be closer to her family. She had a great love for music and a strong devotion to her family. Margaret will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her children, Richard (Carol) Therkelsen, Susan (Jerry) Koudelka, Barbara (Dale) Hatch, Nancy (Anthony) Druktenis, Jeff (Krisse) Therkelsen; seven grandchildren, Tracie (Pete) Feest, Kirk (Carrie) Koudelka, Kevin (Sarah) Koudelka, Kristopher (Melissa) Koudelka, Robert (Nicole) Druktenis, Danielle Druktenis and Jenny Druktenis; six great-grandchildren, Madalyn, Ella, and Ava Druktenis, Julia, Victoria and Kylie Koudelka; brothers, Arthur and Tom (Barb) Helding; aunt, Lucille Soens; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jinx, Ruth, Raymond, Peggy and Bruce. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her brothers, Sylvester, Jerry, Raymond, Rich; her “very best friend” Lois Helding; and a dear aunt, Katie Shuford.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy. 32. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for Visitation on Tuesday, March, 29, from 5 until 7 p.m. with a prayer vigil at 6:30 at the funeral home. Also on Wednesday at 9:30 until time of Mass at the church.
