Gordon 'Corky' J. Christensen

Gordon “Corky” J. Christensen, age 87, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. He was born in Racine, September 28, 1923, son of the late Carl and Margaret (Nee: Hanson) Christensen.

During World War II Corky proudly served his country as Corporal in the United States Army in the Philippines. He was united in marriage to Janice P. Rognsvoog on August 12, 1950, at the Trinity Methodist Church in Racine. Corky was employed by J.I. Case Company for thirty-three years until his retirement in 1983. Representing J.I. Case Company, Corky was a member of the State Street Businessmen Association, belonged to the Case “20 Year Club,” and was the head of the local order of the Magoose Club. Actively involved with Fourth Fest, he was the rides chairman for a number of years. An avid tennis player and golfer, Corky enjoyed membership at the North Shore Club. Corky valued coffee camaraderie with his buddies. He cherished fishing excursions up north with his family, teaching the love of fishing to his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his loving wife of sixty years, Janice; his daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy (Joe) Borzynski, JoAnne (Marc) Elsmo, Laurie (Rick) Hennig; his five grandchildren, Stefanie (Yoav) Meiri, Michael (Shay) Borzynski, Betsy Elsmo (fiancée, Benjamin Thomas), David Elsmo, Richie Hennig; his four great-grandchildren, Julia, Claire, Jack and Joe; brother, Myron “Mike” Christensen; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Albert (Alice) Rognsvoog, Tom (Karen) Rognsvoog, Mary Ann (James) Furrie; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters-in-law, Jane Beck and Henrietta Christensen.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, March 17, 2011, at noon at the funeral home. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon. Memorials to the Trinity United Methodist Church have been suggested by the family.

Corky’s family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to all the caregivers at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center for their loving and compassionate care.
