George Thomas Herchian

George Thomas Herchian, age 83, passed away Wednesday evening, March 16, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan - All Saints Medical Center. George was born in Racine on February 25, 1928, son of the late Neshan “Nick” and Agnes (nee: Dadian) Herchian.

Following graduation from Wm. Horlick High School “Class of 1946,” George proudly served his country in the U.S. Army while stationed in Japan. He then returned and graduated from Spencerian College of Business and earned a degree in Accounting. He was first employed as an accountant with Union Savings and Loan and was employed for over forty years until retiring in 1987 as vice-president of what became M & I Bank. On August 27, 1949, George was united in marriage to the love of his life, Dorothy Jardee, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, where he had been a longtime member and past treasurer. In his spare time, George loved fishing, the outdoors and spending time at his cabin up north at Big Arbor Vitae Lake. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Dorothy; son, Gary (Stacey) Herchian of Kenosha; daughter, Gail (Ray) McCubbins of High Point, NC; grandchildren, Heather (Jason) LeMieux of San Antonio, TX, Tyler Herchian and Whitney Herchian, both of Kenosha; great-granddaughter, Jasmyne LeMieux; sisters, Dorothy Frederickson, Lucy Widmar; brother, Augie Herchian; sisters-in-law, Bette Jardee, Alice Jardee, all of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, George was also preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen “Babe” Jackowski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1100 Erie St., on Monday March 21, 2011, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Anthony Primal Thomas officiating, assisted by Deacon Russell Missureli. Entombment with Full Military Honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 am. Memorials to the American Heart association, the Racine Food Bank or to one’s favorite charity have been suggested.

The family extends a special thank you to all of their friends and family for their support and prayers and to the entire staff at Wheaton Franciscan - All Saints Hospital and Hospice for all of their loving and compassionate care.
