Catherine (Mostek) Knapp

Catherine M. Knapp, age 88, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at her residence. Catherine was born in Racine, October 28, 1922, daughter of the late Sylvester and Katherine (nee: Willing) Mostek.

On June 22, 1946, at St. John Nepomuk in Racine, she was united in marriage to Robert J. Knapp, who preceded her in death on March 19, 1993. Catherine worked with her husband at Fred Knapp Engraving Company as Secretary/Treasurer. She retired from the company in 2006. She was a loving and devoted, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed.

Surviving are her two daughters, Susan (Michael) McMahon of Des Plaines, IL, and Janet (Michael) Mengelkoch of Golden Valley, MN; six grandchildren, Robert McMahon of Chicago, IL, Michele (Peter) Roy of St. Louis, MO, Kathleen (Ruben) Medina of Des Plaines, IL, Katie Mengelkoch of Crystal, MN, Ryan Mengelkoch of Tampa, FL, and Michelle (Brian) Billingsley of Indian Trail, NC; five great-grandchildren, Jacob and Elizabeth Medina, Aidan and William Roy, and Matthew Billingsley; brother, Joe Mostek of Racine; close nephew, Jay Haertel of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Haertel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1903 Green St., with Rev. Don Zerkel officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Memorials to St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church or the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O. Box 515, Northampton, MA 01061-0515 have been suggested.
