Marvin L Weisensel

Marvin L. Weisensel, age 80, passed away Monday March 21, 2011, at the Hospitality Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kenosha WI, after a long and courageous battle with COPD. He was born in Stacyville, Iowa, July 27, 1930, the 11th of 12 children of Erhardt J. and Amanda (nee: Diedrich) Weisensel.

Marvin served as a Corporal in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Joan M. Westrich May 2, 1959 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Over the years he was employed by In-Sink-Erator (18 years), J.I. Case (6 years), and retired in 1997 after 12 years at Gettys Manufacturing.

A member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church since 1960, he served as an usher, prayer leader, and belonged to the parish visitation ministry. He was actively involved with the Catholic Men’s Club, St. Vincent DePaul, and the Northside Catholic Food Pantry.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-one years, Joan; his children, Edward Weisensel of Milwaukee, Allan (Louise) Weisensel of Janesville, Ann Weisensel of Kenosha, Donna (David) Kolarik of Island Lake, IL; three grandchildren, Jessica, Anthony and Rachel; sisters, Sr. Catherine Weisensel of Mt. St. Frances in Dubuque, IA, Adella Attig of Austin, MN, Norraine Hemann of Osage, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings Angela, Clemence, Ernestine, Esther, Lawrence, Marian, Roger and Willard.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 24, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., with Rev. Ronald Crewe officiating. Entombment with military honors will follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church Thursday from 9:15 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.

Memorial contributions to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Vincent DePaul, All Saints Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation or one's favorite charity have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Richard Clark, Dr. Iftekhar Bader, RN’s Jennifer, Collette, Diana, Mary and the rehabilitation staff at Hospitality Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Also thanks to the staff of All Saints Cardiac and Pulmonary Exercise for all their years of support.
