Steve M. Bergemann, age 60, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Aurora Medical Center, Grafton, Port Washington. He was born in Racine on August 16, 1950, son of the late Bernard Bergemann and Zita M. Olson.
Steve was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1968.” He then enlisted in the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam War. Steve was a graduate of Silver Lake College and spent his career as a Quality Engineer. On August 19, 1972, he was united in marriage to Julie M. Petersen. An avid sailor, Steve belonged to the Sheboygan Yacht Club and enjoyed boat building. Steve was an active member of the YMCA. More than anything, Steve cherished time spent with his family. He will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his loving wife, Julie; his daughter and son-in-law, Jenny (Seth) Horzen; his grandchildren, Katrina, Cait and Bella; brother, Carl Bergemann; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tom (Rosemary) Petersen, Marcia (Dick) Thomas, Mark (Diane) Petersen, Steve (Cindy) Petersen, Mike (Renee) Petersen, Mike Legue; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Francine Legue.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Wednesday at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until time of service at 6 p.m. Memorials to the American Cancer Society, Ronald McDonald House Charity, or Sheboygan Yacht Club Sea Scouts have been suggested.
