Joyce M. (Felbab) Gemmel

Joyce Mary Gemmel, age 75, passed away Friday, March 25, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. She was born in Racine, November 21, 1935, daughter of the late Fredrick and Agnes (Nee: Wynhoff) Felbab and was a lifelong resident until moving to Las Vegas ten years ago.

She attended St. Rose Grade School and graduated from St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1953.” In November of 1955 she married William D. Gemmel Sr. Joyce was employed by Piggly Wiggly Food Stores for 36 years. She was a longtime member of St. Rose Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling, gambling, penny slots and bingo. Above all she was devoted to her family and will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her five children, William (Pam) Gemmel Jr., Michael (Teri) Gemmel of Franksville, Kelli (Jeff) Kauzlarich, Gary (Laura) Gemmel and Tracy Gemmel (Thomas Michel) of Union Grove; grandchildren, Craig (Erin) Kauzlarich, Laura (Jacob) Burmeister, Elizabeth, Stacey, Stephanie, Kristin, Katherine, Heleana, Kimberly and Monica Gemmel and Brianna Mallo; great- grandchildren, Hannah, Parker, Austin, Dominic, Nathan, and Ella; her special companion of 30 years, Robert Salvatore; brother-in-law, Robert Gagnon; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marilee Gagnon; her brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth (Ione) Felbab; nephew, Chris Felbab; and step-father, Jesse Goodwin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., with Reverend Mark Jones officiating. Private interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Memorials to St. Catherine’s High School have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Monica’s Senior Citizens Home and the nurses on 2c and 2d at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints for their compassionate and loving care.
