Howard “Howie” J. Weber, age 91, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2008. Howie was born in Racine, October 6, 1916, son of the late Joseph and Minnie (Nee: Bols) Weber. Howie was a longtime resident of Racine and moved to Baileys Harbor, Door County, in 2004 to be closer to family.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Army as Sergeant 1st Class, 32nd Red Arrow Division in the South Pacific stationed in Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines. On September 2, 1950, he was united in marriage to Helen Dell. Howie retired from Western Printing after thirty-six years of service. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 9290. Howie was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Baileys Harbor and the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Racine. Howie enjoyed woodworking and home improvements. He was always there to lend a helping hand to his family, neighbors and friends with a smile on his face. Howie will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; his son and daughter-in-law, Todd A. (Stacy) Weber of Baileys Harbor, WI; his granddaughter, Megan J. Weber of Sturgeon Bay, WI; sister, Betty J. Vassar of Portland, OR; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard (Irene) Dell of Racine; nieces and nephews and many friends who he always had a joke for. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his three sisters and brother, Catherine, Ethel, Evelyn and Robert.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Wednesday July 16, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Molly Doreza officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services.
