Thomas M. France

Surrounded by his family, Thomas Morgan France, age 78, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 24, 2008, at his residence. He was born in Racine, November 15, 1929, son of the late Thomas and Mary (Nee: Board) France.

Tom graduated from Washington Park High School “Class of 1947.” He served in the U.S. Army with the 537th Unit of Military Police stationed in Germany. On August 18, 1951, at St. Rita’s Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Angie M. LaBelle. Tom was employed as a Racine County Deputy Sheriff for 8 years and then by Office Supply Co. for 20 years retiring from HH West Office Supply in 1992. He was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church and the Roma Lodge. He enjoyed airplanes, photography, and attending the annual EAA Show in Oshkosh. He also enjoyed woodworking and wood finishing. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Angie; 4 children, Debra J. Schulien, David (Becky) France, Sally K. Thomas, Cory T. France all of Racine; 6 grandchildren, Jason France and fiancée, Jennifer, Jennifer (Mike) Jones, Devin and Alexander Schulien. Jessica and Miranda France; 4 sisters, Lelia (Robert) Lund of Franksville, Jean (Stanley) Zdzarski of Racine, Mary Lou France of Racine, Nancy France of Denver, CO; nieces, nephews, other relatives, many dear friends and special neighbors. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, William Morrow.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 26, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Ave., with Reverend Joseph Stobba OSA officiating. Relatives and friends may meet Saturday at the church, from 9 a.m. until time of Mass. Interment with full military honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Memorials to St. Rita’s Catholic Church have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Howard Short and staff, Dr. Robert Gullberg and staff, and the staffs of St. Mary’s 2nd floor, 5th floor and ER for their loving and compassionate care.
