John A. Christopherson, 74, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints on Tuesday afternoon, July 15, 2008.
John Christopherson was born in Racine to the late Henry and Katherine (nee: Smertz) Christopherson. He lived in Racine for most of his life. In Racine, he was united in marriage to Beverly E. Eastman on May 26, 1955.
Mr. Christopherson served in the United State Army. He was also an Assistant Scout Master in the Boy Scouts of America for Troop 350 of Union Grove. He enjoyed dabbling in many hobbies, such as furniture making, camping, fishing, cooking and beer and wine making. He especially enjoyed square dancing with his wife. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Beverly; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Betty Guy and Evelyn (Richard) Dibble; one sister-in-law, Helen Christopherson; nephew, Robert (Shirley) Christopherson; many other nieces and nephews; other relatives; and very special friends, Geraldine (Don) Dorff, Esther (Earl) Thompson, Doc (Judy) Stone, Lee Hazlett, and Art Rubin. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister-in-law, Robert (Laurabelle) Christopherson and Henry Christopherson; and one brother-in-law, Richard Guy.
Funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Saturday, July 19, 2008, at 10 a.m. with Pastor John Fleming officiating. In following Mr. Christopherson's wishes, he will be cremated. Inurnment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Friday evening, July 18, 2008, from 5 to 7 p.m.
