Mike attended J.I. Case High School. He had been employed by AMC, Cape Construction, and was last employed by the Chrysler Corporation Milwaukee Plant for twenty-seven years. He was a member of the UAW 75. Mike was an avid Cubs and Bears fan and enjoyed playing pool with various leagues. He will be deeply missed but will be fondly remembered for his generosity and acts of kindness.Survivors include his two sons, Steven M. Saavedra (fiancée, Nicole Owens), Ryan F. Saavedra and Sarah Andersen and their mother, Paula; his parents, Mike and Nancy Saavedra Sr.; brother, Randy (Cindy) Saavedra; sister, Lynn Marie Saavedra; Aunts and Uncles, Barb (Don) Bednar, Sam (Jeanne) Brisko, Josie (Bill) Beckett, Anne Beckett, Mick (Judy) Saavedra, Esther (Paul) Bishop; Goddaughter, Tracey Saavedra (Derrick DalSanto); nephew, Scott Saavedra; niece, Sarah (Tony) Eschmann; great nephew and niece, Carter and Kayla; cousins, other relatives, and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his uncle, John Beckett; and his aunt, Lupe Braun.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 26, 2008, 9:30 a.m. with Rev. Kathy Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Saturday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until time of service.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the EMT, Mt. Pleasant Rescue Squad and ER, ICU staffs for their loving and compassionate care.
