Peter P. Kupper

Peter P. Kupper, 76, passed away after a courageous encounter with congestive Heart Failure at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee on Wednesday, July 9, 2008.

Pete was born in Racine on June 29, 1932, to Bernard and Alice (nee, Prudent) Kupper. He married the former Dorothy Bernhardt on February 16, 1952. Pete graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1951. He went to work for Western Publishing Company where he was employed for over 43 years, retiring in 1994.

Pete was an avid hunter and archer, earning many trophies in archery. He was also a Nascar fan and loved taking trips to the casinos. He also treasured his time in the Wisconsin Dells at Camp Delton where he and his wife made lifelong friendships. Pete had a green thumb and took great pride in his rose garden. Most of all Pete loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren, especially watching their sporting events.

Pete is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy, and children, Barbara A. (James) Shelton, David B. (Patti) Kupper and Terese M. (Paul) Weidner; grandchildren, Riley Shelton, Richard Kupper, Michelle Kupper, Lisie Kupper, PaulMichael Weidner and Jordan Weidner; great grandchildren, Sean, Ryan and Peyton; and his brothers, Bernard Kupper and Jerry (Patty) Kupper. Pete is also survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Katie Kupper; and his beloved dog, Dutchess.

Funeral Mass for Pete will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Erie and St. Patrick Streets, on Monday, July 14, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. celebrated by Rev. John Aiello. Inurnment will take place at Country Haven Cemetery at a later date. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 4 until 8 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. If desired, memorials may be directed to the family.

The family would like to thank Dr. Hastings and the nursing staff at the CHF Clinic at St. Luke's, especially Tammy, Sue, and Cheryl for all of their kindness and support during this time.
