John George Horvath

John George Horvath, 92, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare/All Saints. He was born in Ethel, W. Virginia on May 4, 1916, to the late John and Anne (nee: Vereb) Horvath. He lived most of his life in Racine. He was united in marriage to the former Shirley Clickner in Racine on April 4, 1964.

He was employed at Twin Disc as a Supervisor for 38 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. Nichols Episcopal Church, Twin Disc 20-year Club, an avid bowler and played softball in Racine for many years. He enjoyed going to his cottage in the U.P. of Michigan, where he loved to hunt and fish.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Horvath; his children, John Horvath, Judy (Frank) Sztukowski, Jill (Gerald) Anderson, JoAnne (Clayton) King, stepson, James Lobner; ten grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anne Novak, Rose Christiansen; one brother, James (Rose) Horvath; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Gladyes.

Funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home 1212 Lathrop Ave., on Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at 11 a.m. with Fr. David Miracle officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
