Helen A. Missureli, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Lakeshore Manor. She was born in Racine, May 4, 1918, daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Nee: Philipipi) Matagrano.
Helen was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1937.” On November 29, 1941, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Russell Missureli. Helen was a former businesswoman with Matagrano Inc. and then a secretary with Marquette Distributing for many years. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church for over fifty years and a member of the Women’s Club of Racine. Helen was an active member of Vittoria Colonna and enjoyed playing bocci. She also volunteered for over thirty years with Roma Lodge Bingo. She looked forward to early mornings and summers with the Washington Park Golferettes. Above all, Helen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and dear friend to many. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her loving husband of sixty-six years, Russell; her son and daughter-in-law, Russ “Rusty” (Suzanne) Missureli of Madison; her grandchildren whom she dearly loved, Andrew Missureli of Fairfield, CA, Andrea Missureli of Madison; brother, Frank Matagrano of Los Alto, CA; half sister, Elena (Bill) Anderson of Racine; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frank (Gina) Missurelli of Kenosha, Marie Missurelli, Gloria Missurelli, both of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends, especially the Meredith family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters and brother, Susan Zicarelli, Angie Cayll, Julia Janarelli, Josephine Savasta, Edith Litrenta and Tony Matagrano.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring Street, Monday, July 7, 2008, 10:30 A.M. with Rev. William Dietzler and Rev. Paul Daniels concelebrating, assisted by Deacons Russell Missureli and Gerald Ponec. Entombment will follow at Calvary Garden Crypts. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Sunday at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. (Vittoria Colonna Service at 4 p.m.) and on Monday at the church 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Memorials to St. Edward Catholic School Endowment Fund have been suggested.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. William C. Harris, Dr. Robert Gullberg, Dr. Jesse DeGroat, and Lakeshore Manor for their loving and compassionate care.
