James J. Emmerling, 76, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare on Thursday, July 24, 2008, with his family at his side.
James was born in Burlington on May 3, 1932, to Edward and Elizabeth (nee:Vogel) Emmerling. He served in country in the United States Army in Korea. James was employed by the City of Racine Parks and Recreation Department. He married Kathleen Reschke and they spent 20 wonderful years of marriage together. James liked trains, riding his moped, and loved his 1989 Ford pick-up.
James is survived by his loving wife, Kathie; son, James (Leslie Ehlert) Emmerling; granddaughters, Jennifer (Rob) Tucker and Danielle Emmerling; sister, Beatrice (Otto) Hipper; sisters and brothers in law, Laura Emmerling, Leonard (Margaret) Reschke, Mary (Erv) Koehler, James (Margaret) Reschke, Michael (Gayle) Reschke, Renee (Michael) George, and Robert Fiebig. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, god children, other relatives, and many dear friends. James was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Art, Milton, and Roy; sister, Mildred; brother-in-law and sisters in law, Leonard and Margaret Reschke, and Margaret Fiebig; and nephew Brad George.
A memorial service for James will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Donald Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family have been suggested.
