Bernice C. (Seitz) Miller

Bernice C. Miller, age 84, passed away Friday, July 18, 2008, at Aurora Medical Center, Kenosha, WI. Bernice was born in Racine, August 20, 1923, daughter of the late John L. and Rosaline E. (Nee: Iselin) Seitz.

On August 24, 1946, she was united in marriage to Milton F. Miller at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Bernice was a graduate of Dominican College and taught junior high students at Sacred Heart Catholic School for twenty years until her retirement in 1988. After retiring she volunteered with the Racine Literacy Council, the Volunteer Center of Racine, and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She especially enjoyed sharing her love for learning while tutoring at local schools and the Ellsworth Correction Center. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and Catholic Women’s Club. Above all she devoted her life to her family and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Bernice will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her husband, Milton; her four children, Janet Kilpatrick (Vince Lofink) of Bear, Delaware, Leon (Shelley) Miller of Littleton, CO, Alan (Susan) Miller of Racine, Laurence (Cynthia) Miller of Racine; her seven grandchildren, Stephanie Adams, Erica (Aaron) Tarpine, Roxanne and Amy Miller, Lorrie (Chris) Brown, Vincent (Viminda) Miller, Nicole Miller; five great-grandchildren; brother, John Russell Seitz of Racine; aunt, Hazel Iselin of Racine; brother-in-law, James (Ruthanne) Miller of Little Rock, AR; sister-in-law, Mary Jane (William) Haas of Franklin, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Seitz; sister, Mary Elaine Seitz; grandson, Anthony Miller; son-in-law, James Kilpatrick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring Street, on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Richard J. Molter officiating. Interment will follow at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 21731 Spring Street, Union Grove. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the mass. Memorials to St. Catherine’s High School have been suggested.

On behalf of her children and grandchildren, we would like to thank our Dad for his loving care and devotion to Mother.
