Marion L. (Gerber) Dygon

Marion L. Dygon (nee: Gerber), age 75, passed away early Saturday morning, September 20, 2008, at Wheaton-Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. Marion was born in Racine on December 31, 1932, daughter of the late George and Bertha (nee: Kanetzke) Gerber.

She was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1951.” Marion was united in marriage to William K. Dygon at First Evangelical Lutheran Church on January 10, 1953, where she was a lifetime member. William preceded her in death on May 1, 2005. Marion was a past president of the Racine Garden Club, and she was active in her earlier years with the Zoo Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilting and sewing as well as beading, rosemaling and many other crafts. Generous with her time and talents, Marion knitted many blankets and booties for needy young mothers. More than anything, taking care of her family gave her the most joy. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her three sons, William Dygon (Jackie Grigg) of Oak Creek, David Dygon of Racine, Paul (Nora) Dygon of Wind Lake; grandchildren, Carrie (Aaron) Nagirny, Michael Dygon, Nicholas Dygon, Gretchen Dygon; sister, Marjorie Matson of Racine; brothers, Robert (Joyce) Gerber of Racine; Ralph (Mary) Gerber of Grand Island, FL; sisters-in-law, Karen (Fred) Schmidt, Jean (Richard) Elias, Penny Tower, all of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Marion was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Edward Matson.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, September 26, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. John D. Roekle officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home Thursday from 5-7 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Memorials to the American Diabetes Association have been suggested.
