William E. Maier

William Ervin Maier, age 51, passed away Friday, September 12, 2008, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Hospital. He was born in Racine September 27, 1956, son of the late Henry and Olive (Nee:Mandernach) Maier.

Bill graduated from St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1975.” On October 15, 1977, at Holy Name Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Diana L. Rivas. He was employed by S.C. Johnson and Son for 31 years and was a member of the company Twenty Year Club and the Fire Brigade. Bill enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting, bowling, and cooking. Above all he was a devoted husband and father who will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Diana; his daughter, Brittany; 6 brothers and sisters, Henry (Christine) Maier, Catherine (Thomas) Rolfson, Elizabeth (Clarence) Lechner, Ginger (Daniel) Wanserski, Michael (Barbara) Maier, Joseph (Terri) Maier; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joanna (Gregg) Solazo; his godchildren, Joe Rivas, Dylan Solazo and Karina Lee; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Mary Rivas and a nephew, Jacob Maier.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 17, 2008, 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St., with Reverend John D. Aiello officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. and Wednesday at the church from 10:30 a.m. until time of Mass.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Odders and staff and Dr. Dhingra for their loving and compassionate care and also a special thank you to the ICU Staff at All Saints Hospital.
