Richard ‘Dick’ Stroemer, 82, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2008, at Harbor House, Kenosha, WI. He was a lifelong resident of Racine, born on April 15, 1926, to William and Della (nee: Jordan) Stroemer. On December 28, 1948, he was united in marriage to Mary Jo Solbraa.
Richard served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946. He then graduated from the University of Wisconsin and enjoyed a successful career as a salesman for Heyman Distributing Company, Chicago, IL.
Richard is survived by his son, John Stroemer of Minnesota; daughter, Jane (Tom) Hearn of Racine; four grandchildren, Erik (Alyssa) Stroemer and Sarah (Matt) Anderson both of Minnesota, Heather (Matt) Remington and T.J. Hearn both of Racine; and three great-grandchildren, Ava and Jack Anderson and Mackenzie Jo Stroemer all of Minnesota; a sister-in-law, Catherine Stroemer of Virginia. He is further survived by nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo; parents, William and Della Stroemer; brother, William Stroemer; in-laws, Arlow and Cora Mae Solbraa; sister-in-law, Arlyss Karlson and brother-in-law, Robert Karlson.
Memorial services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Sunday, September 7, 2008, at 2 p.m. There will be a time to meet with the family at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m.
The family would like to thank all of Dick’s neighbors and friends who so compassionately helped him while he suffered with Alzheimer’s.
