MILWAUKEE - Alan A. Perlberg, 66, formerly of Racine, passed away on Saturday August 29, 2009 at Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation Center, Milwaukee.
Alan was born in Racine on January 7, 1943, the son of Arthur and Muriel (Helling) Perlberg. He graduated from Wm. Horlick High School “Class of 1961,” and went on to further his education, graduating from UW- Oshkosh, with a degree in journalism.
Alan was employed at the Milwaukee Library and Milwaukee County Stadium. He found great enjoyment in attending many festivals in Milwaukee and Racine; he enjoyed the outdoors and camping as a young boy with his family. Alan found solitude in his many long walks, along with being very well read and enjoyed listening to the radio.
Alan is survived by his cousin and caregiver, Charles “Chuck” Valukas, of Racine, along with other cousins, Gloria Valukas of Grafton, Lorraine (Cal) Peterson of Green Bay, Janet (Charles) Iggulden of Racine, and Wayne (Cindy) Valukas of Tennessee, Doris Brown and David, Don and Dean Miller all of Racine. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, many other relatives, and dear friends in Racine and Milwaukee.
Funeral services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Friday September 4, 2009, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
In lieu of flowers memorials to American Lung Association, 13100 W. Lisbon Rd. Suite 700, Brookfield, WI, 53005, have suggested by the family.
Alan’s family would like to extend a very special thank you to Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation Center for their fine care given to Alan during his illness.
