Sam 'Socko' Kachichian, 83, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at Ridgewood Care Center, surrounded by his loving family.
He was a lifelong resident of Racine, born on October 12, 1926, the son of Mihran and Marie (nee: Dadian) Kachichian. Sam was a “1945” graduate of Wm. Horlick High School. On September 11, 1954, Sam was united in marriage to Helen Christensen at St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church.
He was employed as a steel salesman for Metron Steel Company, retiring in 1995 after many years of service. Sam was a member of St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church, the Rotary Club and Milwaukee Athletic Club. He found great enjoyment in golf, squash, racquetball and swimming.
Sam is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen; son, Michael (Faryn) Kachichian of DePere and their children, Drew and Paige; daughters, Mary (Bob) Stoewe, and their children, Cameron and Samantha, Jenny (Rich) Miller, and their children, Allison, Anna and Christian; two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Koleske and Donald Sack all of Racine. He is further survived by nieces nephews other relatives and many dear friends.
Sam was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Koleske and Margaret Sack; three nephews, Donald (Michelle) Sack, Richard Misch and Tommy Christensen .
Funeral services will be held St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church, 4605 Erie St., on Saturday, August 15, 2009, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Yeprem Kelegian officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. There will be a visitation at Sturino Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. with Wake Service at 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Sam’s memory to St. Mesrob’s Church have been suggested.
