Gilbert Roland “Gil” Miller, 78, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care- All Saints on Friday, August 21, 2009, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Racine on October 13, 1930, the son of Arnold E. and Alice K. (nee: Hush) Miller, Sr. Gil graduated from St. Catherine's High School and attended Dominican College and Marquette University. On June 2, 1951, Gilbert was united in marriage to Patricia Grace Krahn at St. John Nepomuk Church.
Gilbert was an Assistant Supervisor with Wisconsin Natural Gas, retiring after 39 years. He was an Officer with EMBA, active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he was a collection teller. He enjoyed bowling and softball in his younger years. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Surviving is his wife Pat; daughters, Nancy (John) McGrath, Jill (Mark) Felch-Garvin, Alison (Steve) Mrkvicka; grandsons, Jonathan (Kate) McGrath, Jeramy Felch, Aaron Felch, Steven Mrkvicka; granddaughters, Teresa McGrath, Jennifer (John) Lubatti, Rebecca Felch, Kristen Mrkvicka; great-granddaughters, Alexia Mrkvicka, Myah Caron, Mary Grace McGrath, soon to be born, great-grandson, Vincent Lubatti; and brother and sister-in-law, Arnold E. (Barb) Miller Jr. Gil is further survived by much-loved nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St., on Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Fr. John Aiello officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. for relatives and friends to meet with the family before 11 a.m. mass.
Memorials to The American Lung Association or The Tobacco Free Coalition have been suggested.
