Edward T. Petrick, 89, passed away on August 22, 2009, at Ridgewood Care Center.
He was born in Stevens Point on June 12, 1920, the son of Edward and Catherine (nee: Tetzlaff) Petrick. Ed’s family moved to Racine in 1925. On January 15, 1949, Ed was united in marriage to Nancy Dunleavy in Dubuque, Iowa.
Ed served in the CCC Camp from 1938 to 1940, then serving the United States Army Air Corp, as a Medical Technician Air Evacuation F3 from January 1942 to November 1945. He was a set-up man in the Pipe Department at Walker Manufacturing for 29 years, retiring in 1969 due to a disability. He was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church. Ed enjoyed fast pitch softball, and most of all always enjoyed helping others in any way he could.Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Nancy; three sons, Richard (Nori) Petrick of Stillwater, MN, Michael Petrick and Larry (Novelette) Petrick, all of Racine; grandchildren, Andy (Jenny) Petrick, Brian Petrick, Aaron Petrick and Nick Petrick; great-grandchildren, Cody, Kyle and Jordan Petrick; sister-in-law, Frances Petrick and brother-in-law, Paul Dunleavy; former daughter-in-law, Fran Bodnar. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Petrick; three sisters, Jean Stazewski, Rose Krueger, Clara Petersen; and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 1015 Four Mile Rd., on Thursday, August 27, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Carol Baumgartner officiating. Full military honors will conclude the services. Private burial will take place at Mound Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.
