Lydia (Blaha) Schulz

Lydia Schulz, age 97, passed away Monday, August 17, 2009, at Ridgewood Care Center. Lydia was born in Racine, August 14, 1912, daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Nee: Slovak) Blaha.

Lydia was employed by Webster Electric for ten years and retired in 1977 from In-Sink-Erator after over twenty years of employment. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Lydia enjoyed playing bingo and crossword puzzles but more than anything she enjoyed her time spent as Nanny for her nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her children, Jerome “Jay” Gross, Jr. of Pinckney, MI, and Pamela (Lynn) Murray of Freeport, IL; her grandchildren, Katherine (Scott) Keller of MI, David Gross of Canada, Justine (Carl) Hein of MI; her great-grandchildren, Emily and Josh Keller, Kirstyn and Cameron Hein, Dwight Gross; sister, Stephie (Perry) Smith of Kenosha; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank, John, William, and Edward, her sisters, Ann, Frances, and Mildred, and her daughter-in-law, Marge Gross.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St., on Friday, August 21, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. John D. Aiello officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the church 9:15 a.m. until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society of the American Heart Assn have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Lydia’s niece, Patricia and Paul Steimle and their daughter Jackie and Ryan Morrow for all their loving and compassionate care given to Lydia.
