George E. Foley, 88, passed away at WFH-All Saints on Thursday, August 20, 2009.
George was born in Racine on July 20, 1921, the son of George and Louise (Gramza) Foley. He was united in marriage to Helen Johnson, who preceded him in death in 1987. George was united in marriage to Doris Mattal on June 24, 1989. He was a Washington Park High School graduate “Class of 1939.” George proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during W.W. II as a pilot and was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant.
He was a longtime member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and proud member of Masonic Lodge F&A.M. #18, Scottish Rite and Tripoli Temple. George was employed at S.C. Johnson as a transportation supervisor, retiring with more than 40 years of service. He found great enjoyment in bowling, golf, singing with the Cardiac Capers, and portraying Santa for many years.
George is survived by his wife, Doris; one son, Dan of Mesa, AZ.; five grandchildren, Scott, Brad, Pam, Beth and Heide; three great-grandchildren, Lexi, Maraen and Joshua; one sister, Louise; and one brother, Patrick. George is also survived by step-children, Marla, Nancy and Mark; step-grandchildren, Corinne and Nicole; step-brother-in-law, Glenn Johnson; and very special friends, Jack and Barbara Dehne. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. George was preceded in death by one brother, James, K.I.A. in W.W. II; and two sisters, Evelyn and Anna Mae.
In keeping with family wishes, private services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church have been suggested.
