Beverly K. 'Bev' (Gehrig) Jaeger

Burlington - Beverly K. Jaeger, age 75, passed away peacefully Monday evening, August 31, 2009, at Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington. Beverly was born in Racine on October 28, 1933, daughter of the late Theodore and Katherine (nee: Kottmeyer) Gehrig. She was the only daughter in a family of four brothers, Ted Jr., Verne, Darryl and LeRoy, all of them having served in WW II. Beverly was further distinguished by being related to famed baseball player, Lou Gehrig.

She was united in marriage to Fred K. Jaeger of Racine on December 25, 1955. Bev and Fred were the only couple to be married on Christmas Day at the Plymouth Congregational Church, where she was a lifelong dedicated member. They had three children, Gary, Heidi and Lisa. Gary died in an auto accident at the age of three. During the children’s school years, Bev was active in the P.T.A. and Girl Scouts. She also worked as a secretary for a trucking company. She will be best remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Bev is survived by her loving husband of nearly fifty-four years, Fred of Burlington; daughters, Heidi (Dave) Neiman of Sarasota, FL, Lisa Zaspel of Burlington; four dear grandchildren, Abbie and Kasey Zaspel of Burlington; Chandler and Rachel Neiman of Sarasota; brother, Ted Gehrig Jr.; sisters-in-law, Laurel Gehrig of Ripon, Lorraine Gehrig of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and her son, Gary, Bev was also preceded in death by her brothers, Verne, Darryl and LeRoy.

Funeral services will be held at Plymouth Congregational Church, 1143 College Ave., Friday September 4, 2009, at 11 a.m. , with Rev. Glenn Lawson officiating. Interment will follow at Mound Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5 -7 p.m. and at the church Friday morning from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Memorials to Plymouth Congregational Church have been suggested.

The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Melanie Smith and her staff as well as the staff at Aurora VNA Hospice for your loving and compassionate care, and to all of the family and friends for all of your support and acts of kindness during these past months.
