Mount Pleasant - Lewis B. McClellan, 88, passed away at Lincoln Village Care Center on Tuesday, August 25, 2009.
Lewis was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, on July 24, 1921, to the late Clarence and Gertrude (nee: Westwood) McClellan. On August 15, 1947, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Jens.
Mr. McClellan was a 1939 graduate of Park High and, he proudly served in the Air Force from 1942 to 1946 as an A.S.T.P. Rutgers University Engineering radar operator mechanic in Italy and Austria. In 1948, he earned a B.S. in Chemistry from Marquette University and was employed for 30 years as a project engineer for General Electric Corp. until his retirement in 1982. Lewis was also a member of Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church.
Lewis is survived by a son, Mark (Lisa) McClellan of Antioch, IL; daughter, Lynn McClellan of Racine; one granddaughter, Jenifer; a sister, Gertrude Purdue of Memphis, TN; nieces, nephews and many other relatives. Lewis was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie on July 11, 2009.
Funeral services for Mr. McClellan will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Kara Baylor officiating. Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Lincoln Lutheran Home.
