Robert Harmon Leger, “Bob,” passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 28, 2009, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. He was born in Racine on April 11, 1930, son of the late Walter and Mabel (Nee:Bevington) Leger.
Bob graduated from Washington Park High School “Class of 1949” and recently enjoyed attending his 60th class reunion. Following high school, he served in the National Guard. Bob was employed at Twin Disc for 29 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Twin Disc Twenty Year Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, helping his family and friends with remodeling projects, and winters in Sun City, AZ. Above all, Bob was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed.
Surviving are his five children, James (Sharon) Leger, Sandra (John) Adams, Dave (Cindi) Leger, Janet (Richard) Jacobson, Steve (Susan) Leger; 11 grandchildren, Jamie, Brian, Stephanie, Summer (Mike), Ashlee, Lauren (Scott), Nicholas, Stephanie, Alexandria, Zachary, Joseph; seven great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Patrick Flynn. He is further survived by his life partner, Delores “Dee” DePatie and family: children, Julie (Tom) Leicht, Cherie (Tom) Fliess, Larry (JJ) DePatie; grandchildren, Stephanie (Adam), Andrea, Nicole (Chad), Ally (Ben), Katie (Travis), Sara, Tina, Meghan, Cory; four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy (Nee: Forbes) in 1992; a brother, Richard; and a sister, Gladys Flynn.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2009, with viewing from 10 a.m. to noon; services will be held at noon at the funeral home with Reverend Steve Wohlfeil officiating. Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials to one’s favorite charity have been suggested.
